UAE loses to US in thriller despite Aryan Lakra heroics

[ad_1]

Aryan Lakra was stripped of a successful start to his international career as the UAE lost to the United States by a wicket in an exciting one-day international event in Aberdeen.

The 20-year-old rookie had an outstanding half-century, helping the national team to reach 254 goals. Then, Team USA had a shocking late collapse as they just crossed the victory line.

The fact that Lakra was chosen to replace Kashif Daud is not entirely surprising.

A day ago, Daud was extremely poor lost to scotlandwith an economy rate of 6.66 when bowling, also suffered the insult of the Golden Ducks.

Swapping him for Lakra would give Emirates an extra left-arm spin option on a wicket that uses the next day.

Shockingly, however, Lakra went to the wicket at the start of the game and started the bat with Muhammad Waseem.

Removing Chirag Suri from his berth at the top of the order seems like a wise decision, though.

Lakra has played 11 times for the first time in international cricket and appears well-positioned to handle promotion to the elite level.

Excitingly, the biggest stand in the UAE inning was between two players playing together on the world stage Under 19 Cricket only recently.

Lakra, captain of the UAE team, played in the age group World Cup two years ago, leading a team that included Vriitya Aravind.

Alavender just turned 20 in June, and he’s been on a firm footing in senior team competition ever since — record breaking levelas he became the third player to score a two-ton ODI as a teenager.

He rose so fast that Alavender was named vice-captain of the national team for the series.

However, he had to defer to his former age group leader as he and Lakra pieced together a 111-worth tie for the UAE’s third wicket against the United States.

Although they played cricket together for years, a misunderstanding between them led to Lakra’s death.

He struggled with a single miscarriage at the age of 84. He’s 16 years short of becoming the 17th player to score a century on his ODI debut.

It’s hard to say who is sadder — Lacla or his batsman. To exacerbate the problem, he later scored four more goals for a 53.

The UAE appeared to be in disarray when Rohan Mustafa was then run out of the next ball.

A sixth wicket worth 63 stand between Basil Hameed and CP Rizwan helped them reach a final total of 253-8 at the end of 50 rounds.

With Sushant Modani and the dangerous Steven Taylor in place, Team USA’s chase was in balance when — inexplicably — the wind stopped the game.

In the four days since arriving in Aberdeen for this series, the national team’s players have barely seen a single cloud in the sky.

Conditions were so good that match officials didn’t even consider the calculation of signing Duckworth-Lewis Stern.

However, a gust of wind brought the game to a halt for 48 minutes after two scopes at the top of the pitch were overturned.

This is the force with which they were overthrown, one was irretrievably shattered. Groundstaff worked heroically to get the rest of the screen back to work without missing any transitions in such a good time, meaning no DLS calculations were required.

When the game restarted after a break, it was the United States that responded better.

Monank Patel joined Aaron Jones for 126 runs for the third wicket to break the running chase.

The UAE’s frustration is palpable. When Jones was finally removed from the crease, he shot a 51, and he didn’t take the send-off he received from the feisty Junaid Siddique. The referee warned UAE captain Ahmed Raza to moderate his fast bowler’s behaviour.

However, this feels like a pivotal moment as America is on edge. The U.S. side lost six wickets in 40 overs thanks to a combination of good catch and ground defense and tight batting.

That leaves them with a single wicket and two in the end. They crossed the line when Gajanand Singh knocked Basil Hameed out.
