A woman who accused her brother of ruining her relationship with her family through abusive messages he sent on the family WhatsApp group has had her case dismissed on appeal.

The Al Ain Court of Appeal upheld an earlier lower court ruling that dismissed the woman’s lawsuit for lack of sufficient evidence to support her claim.

Official court documents say the Arab woman has filed a lawsuit against her brother, seeking Dh200,000 in damages for the material, emotional and physical suffering she suffered as a result of the abusive and humiliating messages he shared on her family’s WhatsApp. and psychological loss. group.

She said the message caused misunderstandings and damaged relationships between her and some family members.

During the court hearing, the defendant denied the charges against him, stressing that the plaintiff was not harmed.

He said his sister had a good relationship with the rest of the family.

The Al Ain court of first instance had earlier dismissed the case due to insufficient evidence. The woman took the challenge to the Court of Appeal, which upheld the lower court’s first decision.

The woman will pay her brother’s legal fees.
