A resident of Al Ain who was beaten by two youths after an argument has been awarded Dh30,000 in compensation.
The Al Ain Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Court of First Instance, which ordered the two young men to pay a final sum of Dh30,000 in compensation for assaulting him and causing him multiple injuries.
The young man has filed a lawsuit against the two men, seeking Dh100,000 in compensation for the physical, mental and material damage he suffered as a result of the beating.
He said he had bruises on his face, arms and other body parts from the beating.
A medical report stated that the injury prevented the plaintiff from working for 20 days.
Earlier, both men were convicted by the Criminal Court of assaulting the plaintiff and fined Dh2,000 each.
The plaintiff presented the civil court with a copy of the criminal court judgment and medical reports confirming his injuries and treatment.
The Al Ain Civil Court of First Instance has ordered the man to pay Dh30,000 to the plaintiff for the physical and material damage suffered by the plaintiff as a result of the beating.
The men challenged that to the appeals court, which upheld the lower court’s first ruling.
The individuals were also told to pay plaintiffs’ legal fees.
