The ceremony emphasized the importance of protecting the environment and protecting the Earth’s atmosphere, and called for urgent climate action. NCM stated that climate change is the most pressing challenge of our time and emphasized the importance of exploring tools, initiatives and innovations to address these challenges that could determine the future destiny of humanity and the well-being of societies.
“Today we celebrate this International Day with pride in our achievements, which we will celebrate in this landmark year. We recently endorsed and issued the Abu Dhabi High Level Statement, providing early early warning, which will provide a guiding framework for Asia to contribute to the WMO vision,” said Dr Abdulla Al Mandous, Director-General of NCM and President of Regional Association II (Asia) of the World Meteorological Organization.
“The ‘Early Warning for All Initiative’, launched by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and endorsed at COP27, is supported by various stakeholders including developed and developing countries, the UN family and the private sector support is an encouraging sign. The initiative is critical to advancing WMO’s vision that by 2027 the world will be more resilient to extreme weather, climate, water and other environmental events. It also requires our commitment to Keep working hard to achieve its goals,” he added.
NCM also reaffirms its commitment to promoting active and productive partnership-based collaboration and awareness of natural phenomena that may pose threats to human societies. The Center will continue to work with all relevant parties and institutions to meet the challenges of climate change, protect the environment and protect the atmosphere.
