A 46-year-old Indian doctor from the United Arab Emirates embarked on an African expedition to conquer the 5,895-meter-high Mount Kilimanjaro. With no mountaineering experience, he took on the challenge of gruelingly climbing the world’s tallest freestanding mountain to inspire and motivate people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Dr Saif, a specialist in internal medicine at Mankhool Aster Hospital, climbed to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in just four days.

“As an internal medicine specialist, I see people who come to us struggling with lifestyle issues. It is frustrating to see young people in their 20s and 30s struggling with high blood pressure, diabetes and other chronic conditions. The number of teenagers dying from heart attacks is increasing. It emphasizes that health is being neglected,” Dr Saif said.

“I want to inspire and inspire young people, especially those who are struggling with their lifestyles. I have always been very focused on practicing what I preach to my patients. So, health and fitness have always been my number one priority. When I The idea for a challenging adventure came to me when a friend told me about it. His words inspired me and I thought if I did something it would inspire my patients and friends to follow a healthy lifestyle,” he added.

Dr Saif spent about a month of rigorous training preparing for the challenge of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro.

“We were in a team of three. I was the only one with no mountaineering experience. But I was mentally and physically ready for the challenge. We went through a lot of hardships and completed the mission in four days. More The easier route takes longer,” explains the doctor.

Recalling his experience, Dr Saif said climbing the mountain was not easy for him. “We chose the hard way. So we got to higher altitudes very quickly and once my oxygen saturation level dropped to a dangerous 74%. I was out of breath. But in my mind, I did it. I Wanted to be at the top. Training made me fit physically and mentally. In the end, I did it,” said Dr Saif.

He advises young people and his patients to take care of their bodies. “If I can climb a 6,000-meter mountain at the age of 46, then anything is possible. It’s just that our bodies and minds should have strength,” insisted the doctor.

Dr Saif now aims to take on a similar challenge to inspire people and spread the message of health and fitness.
