UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade lauds Oman’s efforts to attract investment | Times of Oman

Muscat: His Excellency Dr. Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, commended the Government of the Sultanate of Oman under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq for attracting investment and growing foreign trade.

“The directives of the leaders of these two fraternal countries are keen to strengthen joint economic and commercial work,” the minister said

Al Zeyoudi explained that he was accompanied by his delegation on a visit to the Sultanate of Oman to discuss ways to expand the business partnership while ensuring the presence of the private sector in both countries is at the heart of the joint work that will play an important role in implementing them Acting strategically for sectoral partnerships for some time to come.

His Excellency added that the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in areas and areas of mutual interest and communicated directly with businessmen to establish trade and investment partnerships in the two fraternal countries and exchange experiences of both parties. He also recalled the comprehensive economic partnership agreement signed by the United Arab Emirates over the past period and the possibility of expanding this partnership through cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman.

Your Excellency spoke of the unimpeded trade between the two fraternal countries, especially through the land ports connecting them, which increases the chances of increasing trade and promoting investment on both sides.

The Minister noted that trade between the two countries in the past nine months exceeded OMR 3.7 billion, equivalent to AED 36 billion.

“By the end of 2022, the number of Omani-owned companies operating in the UAE has reached about 6,280. The direct investment statistics from both parties show that it is about 15 billion dirhams, equivalent to 1.6 billion Omani riyals, or even more More than 85 percent of this was shipped from the UAE to Oman,” Al Zeyoudi said.

His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Trade confirmed that there is direct coordination between the parties involved in the Oman-UAE Joint Economic Council and the Oman-UAE Business Forum and is eager to intensify efforts in the next phase to strengthen the Oman-UAE presence in both countries Invest and take advantage of opportunities in important fields such as food, medicine, logistics, various industries and future digital technology fields.
