UAE Moon Mission: Know where to watch UAE Moon Mission launch, date, time and livestream details

[ad_1]

UAE Moon Mission: The United Arab Emirates’ first lunar missions are all set to launch on Sunday, December 11, 2022. The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) announced a new launch date on Dec. 7 to conduct pre-flight inspections of the launch vehicle after initial launch attempts were delayed. MBRSC’s plan is to launch a rover called Rashid to the Moon. It will land in Atlas Crater. The landing will take place about five months after launch, in April 2023, as the integrated spacecraft will use a low-energy route rather than a direct approach to the Moon.

All the details on the UAE moon mission

The mission to the moon is extremely important for Arab countries as it will make the UAE the fourth country in the world to land on the moon. Rashid Rover is named after the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, former ruler of Dubai. The launch vehicle has passed all the necessary pre-flight tests and is now ready to embark on its historic journey.

Where will the UAE moon landing program land on the moon?

Atlas Crater, on the southernmost rim of Mare Frigoris, is the main landing site for the Rashid rover. The “mare” is the flat, dark lunar plain. This location is on the northernmost side of the moon and has not yet been surveyed.

The location is determined along with some back-up plans that may be employed depending on circumstances that arise during transit. The site meets both the technical requirements for the scientific exploration objectives of the UAE lunar mission and the technical specifications for the lander technology demonstration mission.

What is the main goal of Rashid Rover?

The rover will investigate lunar soil characteristics, lunar petrology and geology, dust migration, surface plasma conditions, and the Moon’s optoelectronic layer. One of the biggest difficulties astronauts encounter on the moon is lunar dust, commonly known as regolith. During the Apollo missions, scientists discovered how moon dust stuck to spacesuits, causing erosion and operational problems. The Rashid rover tackled this question with an experiment that tested various materials against dust.

UAE moon mission launch date and time

The UAE lunar mission will launch on Sunday, December 11, 2022. The launch attempt will take place at 11:38 am UAE time and 01:08 pm US time. The launch vehicle will blast off from a spaceport in Florida, US, on Sunday.
