Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority has taken a major step towards improving road safety by installing smart speed limit signs in sensitive areas of the city. Smart signs have been placed in school zones, residential areas and pedestrian crossings to help keep all road users safe.

These signs are equipped with an intelligent speed detection system that shows the actual speed of passing vehicles and communicates this information to drivers through color coding and facial expressions displayed on the signs.

When the vehicle is traveling within a safe speed range, the sign is green with a smiley face. When a driver is speeding, the sign turns red and frowns, reminding the driver to slow down.

The new signs are designed to encourage drivers to stay within safe speed limits, which will significantly reduce the risk of accidents in sensitive areas.
