A senior Emirati official has clarified the purpose and importance of the recently inaugurated Abraham Family House in the UAE, and refuted some claims that it was built under an Islamic fatwa (a formal ruling on Islamic law) by the Saudi Arabian Council.

Dr. Ali Al Nuami, Chairman of Hedayah, the UAE’s leading agency to combat violent extremism, tweeted that some people have been discussing and issuing a warrant from the Standing Committee for Academic Research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which was issued 26 years ago on the Abrahamic religion. .

“The warrant was allegedly issued against the recently opened Abraham Family Home in Abu Dhabi. This is a lie designed to deceive the state and hijack the minds of its children through the means of ideologues.”

He added: “The Abraham Family Home Initiative is our message to the world to promote the values of coexistence, maintain social peace, achieve peace and strengthen the human values identified in the sacred religions of mankind.

“Whoever wants to understand the vision of the UAE in terms of coexistence, let him look back at the Al-Madina newspaper and what our Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him (PBUH) established to shape and unite the urban society and its various components .”

The Abraham Family Residence on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated on February 16, 2023 and consists of a mosque, a church and a synagogue. It is now welcoming believers, with access to the forum and guided tours for visitors from March 1, 2023.

The complex’s central forum serves as the center of the visitor experience, where immersive exhibits will introduce visitors to the Abraham Family House and invite them to reflect on the three faiths. The space hosts discussions, forums and meetings to promote understanding, dialogue and peaceful coexistence. The Shared Garden is another space for members of the interfaith community and visitors of all faiths to meet, learn and converse.

Mosques, churches and synagogues will provide a beautiful and peaceful setting for communities of faith. This will allow them to attend religious services, hear readings of the Bible and prayers, and experience sacred ceremonies.

The Abrahamic Family House will also offer a vibrant range of educational and faith-based programs and events, as well as initiatives for young people to foster knowledge exchange and interfaith collaboration.
