Hitachi Energy is actively advancing decarbonization efforts, providing solutions for the UAE’s transition from fossil fuels to clean energy, and supporting global net-zero goals for sustainable energy. The company achieved 100% fossil-free electricity in its operations last year and aims to become carbon-neutral by 2030. According to Dr. Mostafa AlGuezeri, managing director for the UAE, Gulf, Near East, and Pakistan at Hitachi Energy, decarbonization is reshaping the energy system, emphasizing renewable power generation and electrification in various sectors, leading to the integration and management of a complex “system of systems.”
Renewable Energy Assets: Dr. AlGuezeri highlighted that Hitachi Energy’s Energy Connect platform, powered by IoT and AI technologies, can offer dependable real-time data acquisition and analysis to optimize the performance of renewable energy assets like wind turbines and solar panels. This optimization enhances overall efficiency and reliability, potentially reducing downtime, extending asset lifespan, and lowering maintenance costs. The platform also facilitates informed decisions on energy usage and distribution, contributing to energy system decarbonization and the fight against climate change.
Reducing Carbon Footprint: Dr. AlGuezeri emphasized that Hitachi Energy’s approach to decarbonization revolves around helping customers reduce their carbon footprint using innovative technologies and digital energy management solutions. The company aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 7, aiming to provide affordable, reliable, and modern energy access for all. Hitachi Energy’s EconiQ portfolio, launched last year, underscores its commitment to sustainability, empowering customers to significantly decrease their carbon footprint and achieve sustainability objectives through EconiQ Consulting and EconiQ Implementation services.
COP28 UAE: He expressed high expectations for COP28 UAE, anticipating bold and practical solutions to address climate change. Dr. AlGuezeri hopes that the conference will facilitate collaborative efforts among governments, businesses, and stakeholders to mitigate the impact of climate change. ADIPEC 2023 concluded with a resounding commitment from the global energy industry to decarbonization and advancing the energy transition while fulfilling global energy demands. The event set a new attendance record, attracting over 184,000 visitors from 160 countries, making it the largest ADIPEC edition to date.
