The UAE established a field hospital in the Chadian city of Amjaras to support Sudanese refugees, following the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Al Shamsi said the opening of the hospital is part of the UAE’s humanitarian, relief and medical support to Sudanese nationals facing humanitarian challenges due to the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in early April. Support for the Republic of Chad is also aimed at mitigating the humanitarian impact of the influx of Sudanese refugees caused by the current situation.

Shamsi stressed that the construction of the hospital aims to reach out and provide humanitarian aid and support to alleviate the suffering of refugees. It is also part of the UAE’s enduring aim to provide critical healthcare services to those in need, especially the most vulnerable, including the sick, children, the elderly and women.

He affirmed that the UAE will continue to monitor the humanitarian situation affecting the people of Sudan and its impact on neighboring countries. He stated that the UAE seeks to provide all forms of support to alleviate humanitarian suffering and hoped that the field hospital would contribute to the highest level of service to the Sudanese people.

Notably, since the start of the conflict, the UAE has operated an air and sea bridge, delivered almost 2,000 tons of medical, food and relief supplies to Port Sudan to support those affected in Sudan, and sent a Nearly 2,000 tons of medical, food and relief supplies. Support Sudanese refugees.
