UAE orders arrest of man who posted video showing offensive images of Emiratis

The federal anti-rumor and cybercrime prosecution agency ordered the detention of an Asian resident pending investigation on charges that he abused the Internet to post a propaganda video that incited public opinion and harmed the public interest.

He was also accused of posting content that did not comply with media content standards and insulted Emirati society after the UAE Attorney General’s Office FBI monitored video clips of the accused indoors wearing Emirati attire on social media platforms. A luxury car showroom followed by two men holding what appeared to be large sums of money.

He was then seen talking to the showroom owner and making an arrogant demand to buy a car worth more than Dh2 million. The video also shows him distributing financial parcels to showroom employees in a manner that exposes his recklessness and lack of awareness of the value of money, in a manner that promotes false and offensive images of UAE citizens and ridicules them, before inciting and provoking public opinion , harming the public interest.

The public prosecution ordered the summons to the owner of the car showroom where the video was filmed.

The prosecution urges Emirati social media users to abide by the law and ethics in their media content and to take into account the social characteristics and inherent values ​​of Emirati society that require an ethical commitment in all aspects of their conduct in order to avoid legal repercussions .
