Ajman police have arrested an Arab man for allegedly defrauding more than 1,500 parents by demanding tuition fees, even though his school license was revoked by authorities for not meeting the requirements.

Major Muhammad Al Shaali, chief of the Al-Jarf Integrated Police in Ajman, said the police had received several complaints from parents who paid school fees to the school administration only to be surprised a week after school started. The school has been closed and the principal and all staff working at the school are missing.

The official added that the investigation revealed that the school was formally refused to reopen for the new school year by education authorities for not meeting requirements. But the 40-year-old defendant (MKA) did not comply with the decision. He continues to charge parents tuition for the new term starting August 29.

Police said the accused had announced the opening of student registration and had made lucrative offers in order to attract as many students as possible.

Investigations revealed that the man took the money and signed a receipt he gave to his parents. Then he closed the school and ran away.

After investigation, the police took the necessary steps to arrest the accused.

During the inquest, the man admitted he had opened registrations for students and collected money from more than 1,500 parents despite the school’s revocation.

Major Muhammad Khalfan Al Shaalih urged parents to investigate the school’s business license before enrolling their child. He stressed that the Ajman Police will not tolerate anyone who breaks the law.
