Reem bint Ebrahim al-Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, said the aid stemmed from Sheikh Mohammed’s belief in the importance of solidarity in times of war and conflict, and the UAE’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the humanitarian impact of the crisis in Ukraine.

This is the latest aid relief from the UAE to the war-torn country.

In recent months, the UAE has provided similar relief aid to Ukrainian civilians affected by the crisis, in addition to sending planes to Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Moldova in response to an emergency appeal from the United Nations and Ukraine’s Regional Refugee Response Plan.

Sheikh Mohamed spoke by phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday, during which the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian war and announced aid.

The two leaders discussed areas of cooperation and stressed the importance of de-escalating the current conflict, WAM said.

Emphasizing “dialogue and diplomatic solutions” as a means to end the offensive, the UAE leaders reiterated that the UAE will “do everything possible to prevent the crisis from worsening and to help create an atmosphere conducive to de-escalation and negotiations in the interests of all parties.”

The Emirati leader also reportedly expressed concern about the global impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war, including on the international economy and security.

“In our conversation with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Ukraine will remain the guarantor of global food security,” Zelensky said in A statement shared on the Telegram channel read.

“I am grateful for the effective support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, especially within the United Nations,” it added.
