UAE Rashid shines in UAE International Powerboat Championships

Dubai: The fifth and final round of the Emirates International Powerboat Championships at the Abu Dhabi Breakwater came to a close on 12 February with 60 competitors in 11 competition categories. International participants from the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Hungary, Japan, Morocco, Jordan, Palestine and Hungary attended.

GP1 was led by Emirati driver Omar Abdullah Rashid, with Japanese driver Yuma Kawasaki second and UAE driver Khalifa Belselah third.

In the GP3 seating category, the podium went to Emirates Khalifa Al Marzouqi in first, Abdullah Al Hammadi in second and Jamal Al Janahi in third.

In the GP2 class, Saeed Mohammed Al Awadi took first place, followed by Emirati Hamad Issa Al Hammadi and Qatari Walid Al Sharshini.

In the GP2 seat group, Qatar’s Khaled Al Mohannadi won first place, UAE’s Amer Houair finished second, and UAE’s Khaled Al Mazmi finished third.

3.1 Category

In the youth competition, Youssef Ramadan of Kuwait won the 3.1 group championship, UAE Saud Mohammad Al Awadi won the 3.2 group championship, and UAE Ali Issa Al Ali won the 3.3 group championship.

The race in each category continued into the Seated GP4 category with Ahmed Al Haremi from Bahrain taking first place, Youssef Al Shraidah from Kuwait second and Emirati Ahmed Al Hammadi third.

In the professional category, Huraiz Al Murr bin Huraiz came first, Saud Al Nuaimi came second and Mohammed Mohsen came third.

In the GP1 seat category, Emirati Khalifa Belselah was first, with Hungarian Kasza Stefan second and Rashid Al Tayer third.

The fun came through the Show Action category, with UAE Show Champion Rashid Al Mulla taking center stage, Moroccan Yassin Fadeli second and Saudi Faris Bahdaq third.

General Director of Competitions Nasser Al Dhaheri congratulated the champions and winners of the 11 different competitions, as well as the first place finishers in each category of the competition. He also praised the great competitiveness and great fighting power shown by all the competitors in order to reach the first place through the two stages of the competition. He said: “The competition is intense, the club has a performance in every category, everyone is trying their best to fight for the first place. We have seen the enthusiasm of the players at every stage, and we have also seen it in the final rounds of the season. The desire to perform at your best.”
