UAE Reiterates Support for Two-State Resolution in Palestinian Conflict

Federal National Council (FNC) Session Opens

The UAE reiterated its commitment to a two-state solution for the Palestinian crisis during the commencement of the first ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the FNC. The session was officially launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on behalf of the UAE President.

Speaker of the FNC Affirms UAE’s Position

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the FNC, reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering commitment to stand by the people of Palestine. He emphasized the UAE’s previous appeals for a humanitarian ceasefire, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the protection of civilians amid the ongoing conflict. Ghobash called on the international community to back the two-state solution as a just, comprehensive, and permanent resolution, in alignment with UN resolutions.

UAE’s Humanitarian Initiatives

Gallant Knight 3 Operation and Aid Efforts

In response to the crisis, the UAE President initiated ‘Gallant Knight 3’ to support the Palestinian people in Gaza. The UAE has also undertaken various initiatives, including providing medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children in local hospitals and organizing aid efforts for Gaza since the conflict began on October 7. The leadership of the UAE has directed substantial aid contributions to the affected region.

The session was inaugurated in the presence of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. Notable attendees included Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, ministers, and senior civil and military officials.

Commencement of the Session

The inauguration ceremony commenced with the UAE National Anthem and the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. During the event, Decree No. 165 of 2023 issued by the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was read out.

Saqr Ghobash praised the exceptional quality of life provided to UAE citizens and residents, attributing it to the country’s safety and security, which reflects the leadership’s principles. He affirmed the FNC’s commitment to ensuring that the 18th chapter continues the cooperative and integrated work with the UAE government, emphasizing the importance of drawing inspiration from the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for the nation’s development.
