Consumers in the UAE can now insure themselves against cybercrimes such as cyber-attacks, extortion theft and online scams for safer browsing.
The EasyInsurnace program of etisalat by e&, the largest telecommunications operator in the UAE, ensures that UAE residents’ mobile phones, laptops and tablets are protected from different types of cyber risks.
“With Easy Insurance, we’re giving you an easy way to insure your home devices and make any claims. etisalat’s personal cyber insurance covers online banking and credit card fraud, loss of online purchases, cyber extortion or identity theft and direct economic loss,” the telecom giant said on its website.
The telecommunications company already offers travel, health, auto and pet insurance as it diversifies its portfolio to broaden its revenue base.
UAE residents can insure their devices with up to $12,000 (Dh44,000) a year in four different insurance packages, covering theft of funds, data recovery or cyberbullying.
Its Platinum insurance plan covers $100 in theft of funds; identity theft; data recovery/malware decontamination; cyberbullying, cyberstalking and loss of reputation; and online shopping, which covers up to $10,000 in losses.
