Ahmed bin Ali Sayegh, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Friday sought more cooperation from Bangladesh to expand air links between Bangladesh and the UAE.
The UAE Minister of State said this during a courtesy visit to Ganabhaban, the official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Information Department.
He thanked the Prime Minister for the hospitality extended to his delegation during the IORA Ministerial Meeting in Dhaka on November 23-24, 2022.
He expressed his satisfaction that Bangladesh, as the current chair of IORA, had arranged a very productive IORA meeting.
The State Minister emphasized that under Bangladesh’s leadership, IORA will be more integrated and effective.
Mentioning that the UAE will host COP 28 next year, he asked Bangladesh to participate. The Prime Minister appreciated the excellent arrangements made by the UAE during Expo 2020 in Dubai.
He thanked the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for its support to the UAE.
The Minister of State stated that the UAE is interested in strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh on mangrove initiatives, reforestation, renewable energy, floating solar, food processing, agriculture and investment alliances.
He also praised her government for prioritizing agriculture and poverty alleviation.
The prime minister said that Bangladesh-UAE bilateral relations will be further strengthened in the coming days.
