The UAE government has been taking serious steps to transform the country into a world leader in artificial intelligence (AI) by 2031, a senior industry official said.

“The UAE government is committed to becoming the next AI leader by 2031, and besides being a national priority, we can see that the country has taken serious steps not only to prepare for AI, but also by creating an ecosystem Becoming an AI leader AI technology can not only grow, but be leveraged forever,” Bayanat CEO Hasan Ahmed Al Hosani told Khaleej Times.

Abu Dhabi-based company Bayanat is a leading provider of artificial intelligence geospatial solutions. It creates specialized geographic information system (GIS) software solutions that enable businesses to process, inspect and display their geospatial data. These can be changed to meet the unique requirements of different sectors such as aviation, mobile and utilities.

“Geospatial AI, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to evaluate geospatial data, has been significantly influenced by big data analytics. Big data analytics and spatial intelligence can be used in conjunction to automate processes such as object detection, image recognition, and geolocation,” This reduces processing time and increases precision,” Al Hosani said of how big data analytics and artificial intelligence are impacting the industry.

He noted that Bayanat is a one-stop shop with a full suite of surveying capabilities such as aerial photography, automotive mapping, drones and satellites.

“Bayanat has already launched AI-powered mobility solutions such as TXAI, the Middle East’s first robo-taxi, which we launched in partnership with the Integrated Transportation Center.”

Currently, Bayanat is working on high-altitude pseudo-satellites (HAPS), large solar-powered drones that can rise all the way into the stratosphere, beyond commercial aviation, for nearly 200 days.

“When we launch HAPS, it will also be the first in the Middle East and the fifth or sixth globally. Our commitment to using artificial intelligence to break into ‘uncharted territory’ has led us to partner with the UAE Space Agency, our world-class Geospatial Intelligence (gIQ) will explore complete space missions to develop the UAE’s Earth observation capabilities.”

Key trends for 2023

Al Hosani highlighted that AI-enabled geospatial solutions are gaining popularity in the UAE.

“Companies across all industries see the potential of artificial intelligence to help them make informed decisions. The number of companies utilizing AI-enabled geospatial solutions is sure to increase by 2023 as they compete to improve performance and Gain a competitive advantage.”

He noted that AI-powered mapping and navigation solutions will expand this year.

“Thanks to continuous advances in machine learning and computer vision technology, more accurate and detailed maps and navigation systems powered by artificial intelligence will become available, as exemplified by the Smart Mobility project in Abu Dhabi,” said Al Hosani.

“By 2023, we will witness the growth of artificial intelligence remote sensing and satellite imagery solutions that can process large amounts of data. This will provide us with valuable insights into environmental changes and other relevant information.”

Al Hosani noted that the integration of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) has the potential to revolutionize the use of geospatial data. “As more devices connect to the internet, this will generate more data that can be processed, opening up new opportunities for AI-driven geospatial solutions.”

With the growing popularity of artificial intelligence geospatial solutions, there will be a demand for artificial intelligence talents in the coming years.

“Universities and training centers will offer programs dedicated to AI and geospatial technologies by 2023, creating a strong pool of AI professionals who can drive innovation in the industry and reinforce the UAE’s leadership in geospatial AI ,” Al Hosani added.
