They will be closed from midnight to 1pm
Motorists will need to check the 2022 Adnoc Abu Dhabi Marathon route map to avoid traffic jams as several major roads will be closed between midnight and 1pm on Saturday.
A record 20,000 participants, including some of the world’s best long-distance runners, will hit the roads of Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The 42.2km marathon starts at 6am on King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Street (closed midnight to 9am) behind the Adnoc headquarters building.
The opening ceremony will also see a spectacular aerial display by the Al Fursan aerobatic team. The team will paint the sky with green, white, black and red smoke trails above the marathon course.
The athletes will then proceed to Bateen Street (closed from 4.30am to 7.30am) and then to Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street (closed from 5am to 9am).
At km 20, the marathon will cover landmarks such as the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and Wahat Al Karama (roads are closed from 5.45am to 9.30am). The athletes will then pass through Zayed Sports City (8am to 9.50am).

Between km 25 and 35, athletes will be traveling on Sultan bin Zayed First Street (commonly known as Muroor Road), which will be closed in two phases, from 6am to 11am, with the second at 6am From 15:00 to 12:00 noon. The marathon will briefly cross the intersection of Zayed First Street (also known as Electra Street), covering Qasr Al Hosn and Abu Dhabi World Trade Centre.
The final leg of the marathon will be on Corniche Street (closed Saturday morning to 1pm) to the south square of Adnoc headquarters.
In addition to the 10km, 5km and 2.5km races, there is also a marathon relay race, with two runners each running 21.1km.
