The second phase of the ‘Closer to You’ initiative has been launched as a joint effort between the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) and the UAE Ministry of Education. The program seeks to incorporate biometric identification of school students age 15 and older into FAIC’s population registration system.

The process is carried out through on-site visits through a collaboration between the General Directorate of Identity and Passport Affairs and the Emirates Schools Education Foundation, and students do not need to visit the Customer Happiness Centre. These dedicated teams work to conduct biometric operations and secure access to student data within predetermined timelines.

We urge parents to motivate their children to enroll in the program through the mobile platform offered during these field trips.

FAIC Director General, Major General Saeed Saif Al Khaili, underscored the agency’s commitment to developing integrated and integrated services. He also explained that the second phase of the program, titled ‘Closer to You’, represents a continuation of the efforts of FAIC and the UAE Ministry of Education.

The first phase begins in February and March of the 2022-2023 school year and covers schools across the country. The aim is to facilitate communication and interaction between government agencies and various community members, while simplifying the process for parents to include their children’s biometric information while they are in school.

He emphasized the importance of developing the government services portfolio and its positive role in improving the quality of services in an integrated manner, supporting the UAE Government’s Government Services Strategy 2021-2025.

Al Khaili highlighted the success of the first phase of fieldwork, which surpassed its goals, with the initiative actually including 192% of student biometrics within the first month, with 1,923 students from 91 different schools across the country.
