Abu Dhabi: Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Al Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Chairperson of the Supreme Council of Maternity and Childhood, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Honorary Chairperson of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), has directed that arrangements be made at the Emirati hospitals treat many victims of the Syrian earthquake, including children.
The ERC has immediately started implementing Sheikha Fatima’s directives and is coordinating with some of the largest hospitals in the country to expedite the admission process for the injured and their families to provide needed medical care.
ERC board chairman Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei said Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s directive was part of her interest in improving the well-being of victims of the Syrian earthquake.
He noted that Sheikha Fatima’s initiative further supports the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts in Syria after the devastating earthquake hit the country.
Al Mazrouei said the ERC had completed arrangements to receive the first batch of earthquake victims and their families. They will be supported until they have fully recovered and returned to their countries safe and sound.
He explained that the authorities wanted to include some children in the group because of their poor health. They will receive the necessary care and support.
