Queues are expected at London Heathrow, Birmingham, Gatwick, Glasgow and Manchester. Those who traveled between December 23-26 and December 29-31 may be affected.

However, Emirates assured that their operations to the UK would continue as scheduled.

More than 1,000 British Border Force staff employed by the government are expected to go on strike. They follow nurses, paramedics and rail and postal workers in the largest wave of industrial action over pay and working conditions in Britain in decades.

To minimize delays at the airport, Emirates has listed some tips.

• Eligible customers are encouraged to use eGates upon arrival at any of the above airports as a faster and more efficient method of entering the UK.

• Customers are advised to arrive at the airport at least 4 hours before flight departure.

• They should also have the correct travel and health documents ready for their destination.

• Passengers are advised to check all luggage carefully and ensure it complies with local rules and regulations.

• They need to complete security checks before boarding or connecting flights; therefore, it is recommended not to bring water bottles or toiletry bags to avoid delays at checkpoints.

• Passengers are also advised to fly with minimal hand luggage and avoid carrying coats or umbrellas as this will reduce queues at security.
