The UAE National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a yellow and red alert as heavy fog blankets parts of the country.
Abu Dhabi police have warned residents that the speed limit will be reduced to 80km/h as visibility dwindles.
According to the NCM, visibility has dropped to below 1000m. The situation is expected to continue until 9 a.m. Saturday.

Abu Dhabi Police warned motorists on Twitter to be aware of slowdowns on major roads, including Mohammed bin Rashid Road, Maktoum bin Rashid Road and Al Ajban Bridge.
By afternoon, convective clouds will appear over the mountains in the eastern United Arab Emirates.
Temperatures are dropping as the country enters autumn. Abu Dhabi and Dubai recorded highs of 39°C and 38°C respectively, and lows of 27°C and 29°C respectively.
It will be wet at night and Sunday morning, with fog or mist forming possible in some coastal and interior areas.
