The leaders of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced a milestone regarding the use of the UAE Pass digital ID in the country.
The statements were made by Engineer Majed Sultan Al-Mismar, Director General of the Communications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, at the UAE Digital Readiness Retreat.
Al-Mismar emphasized the importance of government integration to achieve what he considers a superior and groundbreaking system. Data from other available sources should now be combined according to a unified service innovation and improvement strategy.
Al-Mismar said 99 percent of the population uses the internet and more than 10 million people have active social media accounts.
He also emphasized UAE Pass Digital Identity Support a growing digital ecosystem. Digital IDs provide authentication, digital signatures, and biometric identification.

Also in the UAE, Education Minister Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi announced a new service this week.

Al Falasi confirmed that it will partner with the UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to offer accredited university degrees through the UAEPass infrastructure, which is also a national blockchain platform.
Approximately 11,000 students will benefit from the certification in the first phase. By 2024, the second and third phases will be expanded to cover all licensed higher education institutions in the country.
