Khabib dashes into the octagon and lifts Islam to celebrate victory over dangerous opponent from Brazil

Islam Makhachev, on the road to success of his trainer and mentor Khabib Nurmagomedov, won the UFC lightweight belt at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night with an eye toward in pound-for-pound rankings.
It was on October 24, 2020, that then-champ Khabib defended his lightweight title with Justin Gaethje at the same venue and retired from the mixed martial arts arena.
Two years later, Islam is now back in Dagestan, Russia, with the crown.

Khabib called up featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovsky, the current number one fighter by weight.
“Right now our plan is to fly all the way to Australia and fight the king in his backyard and fight Alexander Volkanovski. Let’s do it. We know we’re going to finish this guy,” Ha said Bibb.
Volkanovsky, who was present, stepped into the octagon and accepted the challenge, thus setting the stage for the title race.
