The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has added two categories of new employees who can participate in the unemployment scheme in the UAE.
MoHRE’s Involuntary Unemployment (ILoE) scheme also allows registration for employees working in free zones and quasi-government entities.
The department authorized the purchase of unemployment insurance for private sector and federal government employees on Jan. 1.
Employees with a base salary of less than AED 16,000 are required to pay a premium of AED 5 per month or AED 60 per annum plus VAT under the ILoE insurance scheme.
They will receive 60% of their base compensation for typical layoffs for three consecutive months. Under the scheme, representatives with a base salary of more than Dh16,000 are expected to pay a premium of Dh10 per month or Dh120 per annum.
The policy period is one or two years. Dubai Insurance, the ILOE website, Al Ansari Exchange and ATMs all offer subscription options.
The service said in early April it had surpassed 1 million supporters since sending off in January.
Individuals working for semi-government agencies or organizations enlisted in UAE Free Zones by continuing to connect “unregistered MoHREs” on the ILoE entryway, a notice posted on the ILoE website showed.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, has reached out to employees who are eligible to purchase the scheme to benefit from inclusion and encouraged employers to encourage their employees to join the scheme.
