Public prosecutions spell out law in social media post

Attacking a public servant while on duty is punishable by law with imprisonment and a fine, the UAE Public Prosecution said on Saturday.
In a promotional video shared on its social media platforms, authorities explained the punishment for committing such crimes.
Pursuant to Article 297 of Federal Decree No. 31 of 2021 on Crimes and Penalties, any person who uses force, violence or threats against a public servant or any person in charge of the public service with the intent to improperly compel him to do or refrain from doing an act falling within his competence , sentenced to more than one year of criminal detention.
According to the post, if the crime was premeditated or committed by multiple people, or if the perpetrator was clearly armed, or if the crime involved battery.
