A man has gone viral on TikTok after revealing some American restaurants inside an Abu Dhabi mall.
The video features user Joseph Fares (@josephmfares) standing inside a mall. “This is when you know the American restaurant chain has taken over the world,” Farez said and flipped the camera to reveal a three-story mall. On the ground floor is the Texas Roadhouse, the Cheesecake Factory and Starbucks. Texas Roadhouse, written in Arabic and English, is right next to Starbucks and across from the Cheesecake Factory.
Just above the Starbucks on the third floor are five people below another Starbucks.
“I’m trying to get rid of this food, bro,” Fares wrote in the caption. He even detailed in the comments that he wasn’t unhappy with American restaurants, but Texas Roadhouse kicked him out, writing: “I feel This stuff is everywhere, lol, I’m not mad, but Texas Roadhouse is sending me (crying emoji).”
Fares told the Daily Dot via email that he had just visited Abu Dhabi.

“I don’t live in Abu Dhabi, I just came to visit. This is my second visit in the past few years,” he said.
He said the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is culturally rich and caters to all walks of life.
“I would say the UAE is a very cosmopolitan country. Dubai and Abu Dhabi cater to everyone from all over the world. Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and deals more with business and government history than tourists. From all over the world People come to Abu Dhabi to meet officials and business people, so there are not only American chains in the mall, but well-known food chains from Taiwan, France, etc.”
The video had 765,000 views as of Friday, with many viewers agreeing that American fast food tastes better abroad than at home.
“And a lot of times, the quality of the food at the U.S. overseas chains is far superior to the domestic versions,” one viewer wrote.
“The good news is that those chains taste a lot better over there than they do in America,” agreed another.
“Each of them is better overseas than in the US for some reason,” echoed another.
Others shared their experiences of encountering U.S. businesses in different countries.
“When I went to Indonesia for a year and saw TGI Fridays, I damn near fainted,” one person shared.
“Pizza Hut in front of the Egyptian pyramids,” the second said.
“I was at the Buenos Aires airport last night and the only restaurant was the Outback Steakhouse,” a third commented.
“I was in awe when I went to Egypt last summer and they had a chili… eh?!?!?!” said the fourth.
