“I was surprised by that,” he said. “I just wanted to see it with my own eyes because Van Gogh was one of the artists I’d heard about since I was a kid and he was one of the few followers I had in my life.”

Beyond Van Gogh combines education, art and entertainment.

“It felt like a dream, and they just kept transitioning from one set of artwork to another and quoting within it. The presentation was spectacular,” Johnson said. Seeing his artwork throughout his life and how and why he painted and why he did what he did and the times in his life when it all happened gave me goosebumps. “

Beyond Van Gogh opens to the Green Bay area on June 7 and runs through August 10.

It’s a different kind of event for the group, said Terry Charles of PMI Entertainment Group.

“We’re used to having concerts, hockey games and big expo-type shows, but they last a weekend or four or five days,” he said.

PMI operates Resch Expo and partners with Paquin Entertainment Group to present the exhibition. Beyond Van Gogh visits Milwaukee in 2021.

“It’s like a museum, although it has a flair,” Charles said. “We think it works, and there are other products like this from this company. If it works, why not introduce Beyond Monet or whatever. As with entertainment, you always test to see what works in the market. When the market is doing well, stuff comes back. That’s how it works.”

Johnson said the production brought something different to the community.

“It’s well known that the area is known for its sports and music venues. It’s spectacular to have something like this happening, but don’t forget that there are other things, like the arts, that should be promoted. It’s a big part of life itself,” he said . “Having something like this through was just an amazing experience.”
