We were impressed by them, and that’s why we reached out to Vansh Mehra, the Managing Director of Maverick Realty, an emerging real estate agency.
Vansh Mehra is a passionate entrepreneur and businessman who focuses on teamwork and uses a customer-centric approach to work. His journey as an entrepreneur started in 2017 in Dubai, UAE, with Maverick Realty. He started leading the company at the age of just 24, which is quite impressive.
Maverick Realty aims to make people’s dream of getting a perfect home a reality and serves them with quality service throughout the process. The company also has social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram. The goal Vansh Mehra has in mind when it comes to his company is to make it the most influential and reliable real estate brokerage in Dubai. Furthermore, he also aims to open several branches across Dubai and keep expanding his business.
Our interview with Mr. Vansh Mehra helped us understand a lot about him and his company.
Explain the background of you and the company in detail.
You do not have to be great to get started. You just have to get started to be great.
I was 24 when I started my journey as an entrepreneur. My uncle, who is also my business partner, had advised me to relocate to Dubai. So when I first visited Dubai, I immediately figured out that Dubai was the only place that would fit my high-minded ambitions. I saw great potential in the real estate industry and decided to start my journey in this growing industry.
We started the company in 2017, and as a start-up, we faced many challenges and setbacks like most new businesses, but we stayed strong and kept pushing ourselves to be better every day and continue our journey. We were barely making any profits in our initial years, but I am glad that we refused to give up on Maverick.
When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it. It’s always hard initially, especially when you have minimal information and resources to stay in the game. However, you have to believe in yourself, stay positive and keep learning.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. Even after facing so many challenges and instability due to the pandemic, I feel proud to announce that Maverick is now a multi-million-dollar company, and we aim to double our revenue this year. A lot of hard work, dedication, endless hours, and sleepless nights have been put in to build Maverick.
I would like to thank my family members who have supported me throughout this journey. However, a dream doesn’t become a reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, consistency, and hard work. Hence, I would also thank the whole team of Maverick for making the brand successful and taking the company to new heights.
Tell us about your life journey.
My life has been like a business cycle with ups and downs. I lost my father when I was 16, and it was the first major setback I encountered. Without a doubt, I must say it was one of the most challenging times for my family and me. However, I believe everyone has tough times at a point in life where life challenges you and tests you to validate if you deserve success. If you give up, then you will never win.
I then moved to London at the age of 18 to pursue my higher education and develop new skills. I still remember the time when I used to work 16-18 hours a day in multiple shifts during my vacations in order to remain independent. Furthermore, I am fortunate to realize my potential and learned at a very young age that there is no shortcut to success; it’s just hard work. I reckon this is why I was honoured with multiple promotions throughout my work journey.
What are your goals?
Our short-term goal for 2022 is to be the most influential real estate company in all the communities in which we are operating now. We are already dominating in some, and we will definitely achieve this goal by year-end.
Our long-term goal for 2025 is to continue to expand and have multiple branches across Dubai so that we can serve maximum clients with quality service to find their right home.
In addition to that, we will continue to be more customer-centric and keep innovating our business processes and making the process of finding a new home much smoother for our clients. So, like Dubai, we will continue to grow and remain unstoppable.
What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?
Beyond my aggressiveness, optimism, selling skills, fearless attitude, and forward-thinking, I believe one of my biggest strengths, which I have developed in my journey, is how to handle criticism. It pushes me harder to be better every day and stay ahead of the competition.
One person never builds a great business. It all happens with teamwork. So, undoubtedly Maverick’s biggest strength is our hardworking, dedicated, loyal and positive team. They leave no stone unturned to take the company to new heights every year and share the same vision. They continue to grow and learn every day.
What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?
When life throws stones at you, pick them up and use them to build a monument. We started with very minimal seed capital, so there was no marketing, HR, accounts, and administration team.
I was looking after sales, hiring new brokers, taking care of marketing, accounts, etc. Gradually, we moved our way up. Since we started, we have always made our clients our number one priority and continue building our processes, people, and technologies we use. I think continuous improvement has been the key to our success. In addition to that, I believe when something is important enough, you make it happen even if all the odds are not in your favour.
Why did you start this company?
Every accomplishment starts with a decision.
Before we started Maverick, I had always believed in impacting people’s lives by becoming an entrepreneur. After starting, my belief has just gotten bigger and bigger every day.
The most satisfying moments for me are not those where I have a Million Dollar cheque for myself but when any of my team members buy their first car, their first home, and change the lifestyle for them and their families from their earnings at Maverick. I feel really proud to see how they inspire others everyday to be successful.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges are what keep things interesting, and overcoming them leads you to growth. I must start from the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, the first challenge that I faced when we initially got started. Operating a company in a foreign country when unfamiliar with the laws, culture, and mind-set of people was challenging. I was a young entrepreneur, and it was a new business, so it was hard for me to acquire talented and committed people who shared the same vision.
I believe that whenever there’s a setback, do not sit back; only bounce back. Recently, we faced the biggest challenge of the pandemic. Still, the collaborative efforts of our team and all the initiatives by the UAE government allowed us to keep the pandemic’s effects to a minimum, find and maximize market opportunities and keep the business alive.

What makes you excited about Mondays?
I do not differentiate Mondays from other days of the week because I mostly work 7 days a week. Every day is exciting for me as I encounter multiple challenges and solve new problems as a business leader. However, if I still have to answer, I think Monday mornings are the most critical time of the workweek, as they set the stage for the day and week ahead. It’s a reminder to start fresh, welcome new ideas, and unleash the beast to level up your game.
What do you value most about your culture and vision?
The 3 words that define our culture at Maverick Realty are Diversification, Incentivization, and Growth. Not just one but all 3 of these have been instilled in our company’s culture from the beginning and are the most valuable parts of it.
We have people from over 15 different nationalities and cultural backgrounds working as a strong team at Maverick. It has helped all of us get exposure to the various thoughts and mind-sets of people all around the globe.
Every team member of Maverick is given respect and importance irrespective of their positions and departments. However, the added touch of incentivization over and above the respect & importance always acts as a cherry on the cake. From Day 1, we have firmly believed in incentivizing every person who puts in even the smallest of efforts for the company. I believe that the growth of a company is a by-product of the growth of its people and not vice-versa.
Tell us about an instance that forced you to be innovative and creative.
“When the winds of change blow, some people build walls, and others build windmills.” I believe the world is changing at a very fast rate, and with new technologies being introduced, all businesses must innovate in order to have a competitive edge. Being a service and a highly competitive industry, it is always essential for us to brainstorm new ideas and be creative.
I still remember the time during the pandemic when my team was unable to conduct client meetings, so we introduced the idea of virtual viewings, started making video tours for our clients, and started conducting property viewings on video calls.
It has made the journey for our clients easier to find their new home and has also helped our team avoid unnecessary contact with people and things and be safe. However, we did not stop there; post-pandemic, we introduced new technologies and continued to disrupt the traditional real estate industry.
What are the strategies of your company, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?
Dubai is a very competitive Real Estate Market, and people can try as much as they want to do things differently, but the core of the Real Estate business will always remain the same here. I personally feel that the only difference among the Real Estate companies is the way they treat their clients. Everybody almost has the same resources, same locations, similar properties, and sometimes the same clients as well, but what makes an estate agent stand out from another is their customer service.
From the day of joining and throughout their journey at Maverick, every team member is guided to provide the best customer service available in the market. As a result, they never dissatisfy any client who comes to us for our services. A house makes a person feel happy and satisfied. That’s why our goal has always been to take care of our clients like a family and make sure that they are happy and satisfied at the end of every transaction and even beyond that.
What are the key values that helped you overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career?
In the beginning, since we had no expertise in running a brokerage company, it was hard to get new clients, experienced brokers, and it was difficult to manage client inquiries. There were no systems and processes in place, so it was difficult to maintain standards. In addition, there were many other obstacles and setbacks we had to face throughout our journey to gain stability.
I believe my positive mind-set, fearless attitude, consistency, ability to think big, and empowering people were the key values that have helped me overcome most of the challenges throughout my career.
How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?
Change is essential for growth and to be successful. If you want to improve the organization, you have to improve yourself, and the organization gets pulled up with you. That’s why my goal is to continue my learning and keep evolving.
We successfully doubled our revenue every year in the last 2 years and will continue to achieve the same this year. We are also working on the growth of our business’s human resources and technological side. So, we plan to have a 4X growth in the next 2 years in terms of revenue, double the Human Resource power, make a user-friendly platform for our clients and extend our operations in different industry sectors.
Secondly, as mentioned previously, a company is always bigger than 1 person, and I cannot create a massive change just by myself. We have a team with a strong character at Maverick, and we all share the same vision to take this company forward and become the biggest go-to Estate agency in Dubai.
I have always believed in every member of my team and know for a fact that if we consistently contribute knowledge and ideas, we will be able to achieve success for the company and, most importantly, for all the team members themselves.
Where is your leadership going? What benefits do your clients get from your company in this competitive world?
A leader is as good as his team, and my team is undoubtedly going in the right direction. Hence, I believe my leadership is also going in the right direction. As I said earlier, we believe in providing the best customer service in this competitive market because we care for our clients not just till the time of the transaction but much beyond that as well.
We have a lot of clients who have had bad experiences with estate agents. However, I can proudly say that no customer has gone dissatisfied or unhappy and had a bad experience after coming to us. This is due to our team’s caring mind-set towards the client and attention to detail.
