Russian President Vladimir Putin has no goals or strategy for Ukraine, says former Russian commander Igor Girkin. Igor Girkin blasted Russian leaders for their lack of purpose or strategy, and according to Newsweek, “the war’s goals are not set, and the understanding of ‘this war—until one side is completely victorious’ Not among the inhabitants of Pink Pony Planet.”

In announcing a “special military operation” in Ukraine, Putin said it was aimed at “liberating the separatist Donbass region and freeing the Ukrainian government from Nazi rule”. But Igor Girkin claimed the war could not have been “without a strategy” if Vladimir Putin was unclear about its goals.
“If there is no strategy, there is no conscious work on its implementation. The enemy initially has such a strategy, and he will implement it with all his might,” said Igor Girkin.
He added that Russia would soon be “defeated” because its military had “simply failed to defeat the enemy in the winter and spring campaigns”.

The comments came as the fight for control of Bachmut continued and the Wagner group appeared to have changed its plans to leave the city, but then backtracked. Bakhmut has seen some of the fiercest fighting in Ukraine. According to reports, Kiev plans to launch a counteroffensive in the coming months to regain more of the occupied territory.
