FIFA fever has swept through the UAE. So much so that hospitals are now getting involved too.

Taking advantage of one of the largest sporting events in the world, the hospital devised creative ways to raise awareness of diseases and disorders.

Here’s what they all have:

Mediclinic’s Welcare uses tongue-in-cheek humor and medical language in a witty way to create an interactive photo booth.

Showing fans with different “illnesses” brings World Cup enthusiasm to life.

Aster Hospitals has a foot golf course for children and adults within the hospital. Competitors must shoot the football into the hole from a certain distance. The winner will receive a soccer ball and a wristband as prizes.

As part of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, Aster Hospitals is offering free second medical opinions in orthopedics and sports medicine. They also offer wellness packages at a heavily subsidized rate of AED 99 to promote fitness. The package includes Blood Pressure, Fasting Blood Glucose, LDL Cholesterol, TG Triglycerides, HDL Cholesterol and Total Cholesterol.

Thumbay Hospital Ajman is showing all FIFA matches on the big screen in its food court so their patients, doctors, attendees and staff don’t miss out

Burjeel Hospital has something similar. In order to attract patients and tourists during the World Cup, they made special arrangements. In addition to screening games, the hospital also set up a unique “wish wall” at the entrance of the hospital, on which guests can write their wishes for their favorite teams and players. According to hospital officials, the wall has received a favorable response from visitors.

It has been filled with warm wishes from fans in Argentina, Brazil, England and France. The Saudi national shared the message and hailed the team’s fantastic victory over Argentina.

The hospital also held a competition to predict the winner, with exciting prizes for those who predicted the correct one. Its sports medicine unit has also arranged events for World Cup-related patients.

Abu Dhabi’s Bergil Medical City has arranged to screen the game in the hospital atrium, where patients and bystanders can gather to cheer on their favorite teams. Doctors and medical professionals at these hospitals also use the season to raise awareness of the importance of being physically active to maintain good health.
