A video of a traffic accident involving a car colliding or sliding off the road was uploaded to Abu Dhabi Police’s Instagram account on Friday. The footage, of traffic cameras installed on a road in the emirate, shows cars colliding with each other, causing damage and buildup.
The title explains that the video is designed to educate drivers about the dangers of being distracted on the road. Authorities warn against talking on the phone, texting, putting on makeup or engaging in any other distracting activity while driving.
It also said that breaching this rule could result in a Dh800 fine and four traffic points.
The video is part of Abu Dhabi Police’s “Your Comments” social media programme to promote traffic rules and the dangers of not following them on the road.
Earlier this year, a similar video was released during a campaign about the dangers of making a sudden stop in the middle of the road and not replacing worn tires.
