The first batch of evacuees from the UAE from conflict-torn Sudan arrived in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
A total of 128 people from 16 countries – including the UAE, Bahrain, UK, Iraq, Serbia, Pakistan, Syria, Sudan, Indonesia, US, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Yemen, Tanzania, Ireland and Bangladesh – landed on the flight Departure from Port Sudan at 2.45pm.
In a statement shared with harrij timesthe Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Mofaic) said: “The success of the evacuation operation implemented by the UAE is part of our humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthen global cooperation and solidarity.
“This is a continuation of our humanitarian approach to protecting civilians and reaching out to countries in need.”
The UAE government evacuated some 300 people from 19 countries from Khartoum to the city of Port Sudan. Second evacuees expected to arrive in Abu Dhabi soon, Mofaic confirms Khaleej era.
‘Can’t hold back the tears’

They say the fighting has created a huge humanitarian crisis as basic needs such as water, food and medicine are depleted. Bearing the brunt of the conflict, they have had to endure lengthy overland journeys from the capital to their sanctuary in Port Sudan.

“We are very grateful to the UAE for the facilitation and hospitality that facilitated our evacuation,” they added.
Dr. Danica Savocic, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Serbian embassy, also thanked the UAE for the evacuation of two Serbian families.
She said: “On behalf of our President Aleksandar Vučić and Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, I would like to thank the leaders of the UAE for their humanitarian efforts and for providing safe travel and accommodation for our citizens. This powerful It clearly demonstrates the strong bilateral relationship between the UAE and Serbia.”
Amid the conflict, Mofaic stressed that “the UAE is committed to working with its partners and the international community to achieve all that is in the interests of the Sudanese people, stressing the importance of strengthening ceasefire efforts, facilitating the resumption of the agreed political framework and dialogue, and advancing through the transition phase To promote political stability and security in Sudan.”
