More than 800 sports enthusiasts in the UAE participated in the Community Bike Challenge organized by Khalifa University to promote a healthy lifestyle among residents.
Khalifa University of Science and Technology and the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club (ADCC) announced on Tuesday that the second edition of the 190km Khalifa University Challenge of the Century attracted a record four groups of enthusiasts.
Participants travel from the main campus of Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi to the Jebel Hafeet summit in Al Ain for the cycling challenge, which aims to raise awareness of cycling in the community and encourage everyone to participate in a healthy lifestyle challenges and activities.
The extended cycling route for the challenge also highlights the majestic natural beauty of the UAE’s majestic mountains and the sand dunes of the Abu Dhabi desert.
Al Nekhaira Al-Khyeli, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cycling Club, said: “Statistically, this event is the largest in the history of the UAE in terms of the number of participants from all categories and community groups.”
He noted that the challenge was characterized by the commitment, enthusiasm and strong competitiveness of its participants.

In order to comply with safety regulations, ADCC organized police patrols along the challenge route, configured four supply stations along the way, and equipped neutral support vehicles to deliver water and nutrients to allow participants to recover, and provided ambulances and support vehicles, as well as Same as other logistics services.
The 187km course of the 2nd Khalifa University-ADCC Cycling Challenge represents the highest level of physical challenge and ability to climb mountains on a bicycle. It’s a physical and mental test of endurance, as well as the strength and determination it takes to cross the finish line.
