Even as winter draws to a close in the UAE, it continues to rain in parts of the country. Motorists drive on wet roads as water collects in small pools on the sand.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow alert for rainfall in the interior of the country this morning, asking residents to be careful when venturing outdoors. Temperatures have also dropped, with a low of 8.6°C recorded at 6.30am this morning.

Earlier this year, Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the board of directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society, said that the first day of Ramadan 1444 AH may begin on Thursday, March 23, 2023. He said the fasting time at the beginning of the holy month, from dawn to dusk, is about 13 and a half hours, and will reach 14 hours and 13 minutes by the end of the month.

Temperatures in Ramadan 2023 will be between 17°C and 35°C when Ramadan begins and between 17°C and 36°C by the end of the month.

He said the ‘Al Sarayat’ spring weather disturbance could also occur during Ramadan, causing heavy thunderstorms.

Some beautiful videos posted online on Sunday showed light rain falling in the desert. In the clip, camels amble along the sand, with clouds gathering in the sky above the riders.
