Ramadan Sweeping fire Thursday in the UAE marked the end of the first day of fasting.

At the Satwa Grand Mosque, hundreds of residents — Muslim and non-Muslim — waited patiently to witness the annual tradition up close.

Six Dubai police officers were present at the site where the Iftar cannon was fired. As per the protocol, one officer commands the formation, one officer passes an empty cartridge, and another officer loads and fires the cannon.

Two officers acted as guardians of the cannon in the rear, while another recorded firing immediately after prayers.

The Ramadan Cannon has a sound range of 170 decibels and can be heard up to 10 kilometers away.

For the Emcanto family, they traveled all the way to Satwa from their home near Palm Jumeirah to witness the event. “It was overwhelming, eight-year-old Jude told harrij times.

“It’s great to learn about and immerse yourself in Emirati culture, especially this Ramadan,” added his sister Ray.
