(Menarfin– Khaleej Times) Posted on Fri Mar 17, 2023 3:54 PMAbu Dhabi Police shared a shocking video on social media on Friday of a reckless driver hitting pedestrians crossing the road from a designated area. The video was shared to protect pedestrians and motorists from a run-over accident.
The Department of Traffic and Patrol is urging drivers to give priority to pedestrians at designated crossing points. Authorities urged drivers to watch out for pedestrians crossing the road and not get distracted behind the wheel.
In the video, a man crosses the road from a designated pedestrian area, but the pickup truck does not slow down in time and runs over the man. In another incident, an SUV driver hit a cyclist, sending the cyclist flying from the bike.

When approaching a pedestrian crossing, drivers must slow down and look out for people trying or waiting to cross. They stress that the safety and security of pedestrians is the shared responsibility of pedestrians themselves and drivers on the road.
Under the federal traffic law, drivers who violate traffic laws and fail to give priority to pedestrians in designated crossing areas will be fined Dh500 and given six black points.
