Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to Arclight Films’ new psychological thriller Mercy Road. The film stars Australian actor Luke Bracey, who most recently appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” and the remake “Point Break.” “The Way of Mercy” tells the story of a flawed, everyday man who commits impulsive and vicious crimes. On this ultimate journey of redemption, he discovers how far he is willing to go to save his child.
It is written and directed by John Curran, director of such acclaimed plays as Chappaquiddick and The Painted Veil. Chris Pelletier and Jesse Heffring wrote the screenplay. Suzy Porter (“The Cargo”) Starring Hugh Higginson (“Nightingale”) and Toby Jones (“Poor Cow”). Well Go USA will release “Mercy Road” in late 2023.

The film is produced by Gary Hamilton, Ying Ye and Michelle Krumm of Arclight Films. Filmmaker Alex Proyas (20day Century Fox i am a robot), Penny Karlin and Daniale Jarry are also producers.

Doris Pfardrescher negotiated the deal with Arclight Films’ Ryan Hamilton on behalf of Well Go USA. Arclight Films is handling the international rights to “Mercy Road” and is representing the North American rights with CAA Media Finance.

Mercy Road is billed as “the first fully virtual Australian feature film shoot. It utilizes the latest technology to bring the creation of an original CG world to life, with live camera compositing on set. Shot on screen with assistance from Alex Proyas’ virtual film production company, Heretic Foundation.
Produced by Hianlo Films, the film is financed by Rainmaker Films, Icon Film Financing, Media Finance Capital through the Screen NSW PDV scheme and Filmology Finance.
Arclight Films’ current slate of films also includes comedies “Arthur’s Whiskey,” starring Diane Keaton, Patricia Hodge, and Lulu; “Wonderland,” starring Scoot McNairy and Emilia Jones; and “Poker Face,” Directed by Russell Crowe, who also stars Liam Hemsworth, Elsa Pataky and Wu-Tang’s RZA.
