What’s On Talk to young Tony soprano Michael Gandolfini

[ad_1]

A movie you are unlikely to talk about in a hurry…

All Saints of Newark Screened in UAE Cinemas on Thursday, October 7th (Thursday)Book now) And it comes with a very emotional entourage. “The Saints” is the prequel to the acclaimed, beloved, and highly regarded HBO series — and carries its exquisite legacy. “soprano’.

New Line Cinema obtained the right to create this, which is basically the anti-hero origin story of the core character of the series Tony Soprano in 2018. The script was produced by the creator of the show, David Chase, and the helmsman of the show, Elon Taylor, served as the director.

The film tells a series of turbulent events that helped a vulnerable young Tony transform into the gang boss he was destined to become. The late and great James Gandolfini, the actor who played the original head of the soprano crime family, passed away tragically in 2013, which means that the actor selected to play the young self will not get official Recognition of the “Mafia Kiss”.

In the transition of the kismet family, and for David Chase’s project, it was clearly appropriate that James’ son Michael Gandolfini was chosen to play the younger version of his father’s iconic role. Judging from the trailer, the butter roll seems not far from the butter roll tree. Undeniable similarities, subtle manners, intensity of contemplation, oh and Chico’s eyes… they never lie.

Latest news: When did you first hear that a movie about “The Sopranos” might be released? Have you ever thought you would participate in it?

Michael Gandolfini: Someone reminded me of this. When I found out that they were going to make a movie, I was actually taking an acting class. I remember I was preparing to make a scene. In fact, when I found out, I was actually preparing and about to step onto the stage. My mother texted me. You know, I didn’t watch this show in the beginning. I have been in contact with David Chase, and of course there are some actors, but not so many. I’m going to New York University. So, believe it or not, this is not an important part of my life. So, it’s kind of like, “Cool. I can’t wait to see it. I can’t wait to know. I support everyone.” But yes, I didn’t even think there might be this opportunity.

WO: Actually, I like that. I like that you are not addicted to this show. You are very young. You shouldn’t watch that show!

MG: Yes. I didn’t (laugh). I heard that this will be a young Tony. So I think this is too young for me. However, I am more focused on my things, and I don’t even know there will be a chance.

Wo: Yes. New York University keeps you busy. So, not only playing a very iconic role, but obviously, how does it feel to play a role that your father is so beloved and famous for? how do you feel?

MG: There are a bunch of layers. This is my first movie. This is an iconic character. This is the character of my father. Most importantly, I will work with my group of heroes. When I say this, it is so overwhelming. right? I think I finally really know that I did this.Somehow, I didn’t even know that I did it consciously…I think I created these small achievable goals, like, “Okay. Get an accent. Okay. I feel good about my accent…” Then, on the first day, “become a good partner for Alessandro Nivola [playing Dickie Moltisanti]. Alessandro and Jon Berntal. “How can you be their good partner?” What can you give them? What do they need? “For me, this is to be the best young actor, to learn as much as possible, and to be able to accept these incredible performers. Because I think I did it, I didn’t consider the sheer size of everything. I really didn’t think so much.

WO: You are an actor who does work at the end of the day. At the beginning and end of each day, you are doing a job there.

MG: Exactly.

WO: Tell me about the collaboration with Alessandro, Jon, Vera, Corey… I mean, come on.

MG: Exactly. right? I mean, I am the luckiest young actor. Alessandro and I soon got close. We started chatting every day. We started reading the same books, meeting the same people, and doing the same research. We just really clicked. I see him every weekend, just spent a lot of time together. And I know I can trust him and really rely on him. He is simply too talented. He just gave me so much strength and taught me so much. Then Bernthal, Bernthal and I… I love that person. We started boxing together, made some preparations, and went to watch matches. He has become a dear, dear friend. Vera, the other, is just an incredible performer and actor. We started to hang out. I have to spend time with her family and eat some food. Then Corey, I also spent time with him… It was too tacky, but we really became a family. I can’t think of a weekend where we will not be together.Gabriela [Piazza, who plays Joanne Moltisanti], Me and Alexandra [Intrator, who plays teenage Janice Soprano]…She is really like my sister. Tony and Janice, I felt so right the moment I met her. It’s such a gift.

WO: That’s great. I can also imagine that it obviously helps, especially for Alessandro, because this is really a story about the impact of his role on the man Tony started to become. Surprisingly, it was not Tony’s father, but Tony’s uncle. Can you talk about the relationship on the screen?

MG: Yes. This is a very subtle but very effective thing that David did. Johnny’s absence makes people feel very strong, Tony really has no one besides Dickie. He also thought Dickie was cool and inspiring, and he relied on him for everything. Just like Alessandro, I can rely on him. I think a lot of our relationships on the screen are really, really the way I see Alessandro in my life, except for being cool. I don’t think he is cool. But… (laughs) I’m joking, but this is reflected in the relationship between Tony and Dicky. I think Dickie’s kindness, leadership and coaching qualities are really important to Tony. I also considered one thing-I pay a lot of attention to Livia and Tony in the series because they are too big. But when I started making scenes in the movie, I quickly realized that I, Michael, I was focused on making my parents proud—because my father was away, I wanted to make him proud. So this is reflected in Tony’s true focus on Dickie and Johnny; it is a very important thing to make the man in his life proud of Tony. Every scene, in a certain way, shape or form, is expressed in it.

WO: I think this is very relevant to children, especially at that age. There are obvious mentors in this movie, David Chase and Elon Taylor. You have to work with both of them very enjoyable.

MG: I mean, it was great to work with David and Allen. I think David, he is too smart. One thing I was inspired by was his ability to ask questions. He was very curious about lighting, characters, art, and filmmaking, and worked with him to make David Chase give a thumbs up, like “Okay, very good!” Then, Allen really created such a big world. I mean, so many characters, scenes, locations, backgrounds, character cleanup… but he really attributed it to Dickie’s emotional arc and his moral code. He has done such an incredible job, and it takes a superb director to truly be able to do it.

WO: When you enter these amazing scenes from the late 1960s, will it help? Clothing, hair. How does that feel? Because it was a long time ago, and long before you were born.

MG: It feels amazing. Tony is kind of a nerd, I like it. But God, I wear some floral shirts. Every day, my flared pants get bigger. Amy Westcott is an amazing costume designer. I said to her: “Every day, my flared pants are getting wider. Every day.” Absolutely. You watch the show. Super addictive. you know what I mean? My girlfriend watched this show, and a week later, she spoke with an accent. It’s just an addictive accent halo, everything. So, it’s easy to immerse yourself in it, because it’s so fun. Every crew member, their accent. Everyone is totally involved. It’s so interesting. David really has the ability to get an excellent cast and excellent staff, they are all good people. They are very good people, and they care about work and relationships very much. I am very happy to go to the set every day.

WO: What do you think is this kind of movie, this kind of movie, is still fascinating? It has been doing well for decades, and people are still flocking to these mafia movies. Why do you think this is?

MG: I think these are several things. Just like any type of movie, a western movie is a wonderful description of a world of existence. It is so interesting, but we are all too far away from it. I also think this is because the mob represents friendship, family, and integrity—although this is all hypocrisy—but this is what it represents. You swear an oath, and then you are a member of this family. I think everyone is looking for this. I think people see this in movies and they like it. They like this kind of friendship. They like love. They like family elements, and they also like the fantasy elements of these outlaws. But as far as this movie is concerned, David really covers the black elements of the 1940s. He has a code of ethics, and he may violate the code of ethics. Lost code. I think this movie is about human experience, and this is what David did well, human experience. You feel seen, you feel heard, you feel loved; you can connect or not; you can get to know some people. I think this is what attracts people and me to the show and this movie.
