After the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Agency (NCEMA) allows vaccinated expats to return to the UAE and resume transit travel through the local airport from August 5th, passenger traffic is expected to increase significantly in the coming weeks.

“The Indian subcontinent is the main source market for Dubai’s trade, aviation and tourism. Conditionally removing restrictions on inbound visitors to the region and Nigeria and Uganda will promote economic activity, while enabling thousands of residents to return to their families and Work in the UAE.

“We reopened Terminal 1 and Hall D more than a month ago to prepare for the seasonal peak of passengers. I am happy to confirm that we are ready to cope with the expected surge in the coming weeks and months. “Said Paul Griffith, CEO of Dubai Airports.

After several months of suspension of flights to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, thousands of UAE residents were trapped abroad, eager to return to reunite with their families and resume work.

NCEMA stated that transit passengers from all countries/regions that previously banned transit passengers will also resume travel, provided that the passenger’s final destination is accepted and submitted for laboratory PCR testing within 72 hours of departure. The country’s airports will allocate dedicated lounges for transit passengers and take all precautions and preventive measures. “Dubai has successfully led international efforts to promote the world’s social and economic recovery by safely restoring important international aviation connectivity. This decision is very much in line with this approach. From a social and economic point of view, this is a great Development,” Griffith said.

Etihad Airways, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, said it is working hard to resume flights to the UAE and connecting flights for eligible guests as soon as possible.

While welcoming the removal of current travel restrictions, the low-cost airline flydubai said: “We are still committed to providing customers with safe and convenient travel options. Passengers are advised to check flydubai.com regularly for more information.”

Dubai-based Emirates Airlines said: “We will continue to actively engage with all relevant stakeholders and authorities on the latest health and safety regulations and look forward to welcoming all passengers on our flights.”
