Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest-growing airline, today announced that its CEO, József Váradi, won the Low-Cost Leadership Award at the FlightGlobal Annual Airline Strategy Awards held on September 27, 2021. The award recognizes Varadi’s dynamic leadership and clear vision during the epidemic.
This year, the award is a recognition of high-quality leadership, with a special focus on outstanding performance during the Covid-19 pandemic. FlightGlobal praised the winners for the agility and flexibility they have shown during the industry’s most sustained and deepest crisis.
Wizz Air’s investment-grade balance sheet, flexible operating model, and continuous focus on diversification make it a structural winner that stands out from the pandemic. Since March 2020, it has launched more than 300 new routes and opened 17 Base and received 33 new aircraft in its network. To support the airline’s rapid recovery and ambitious growth plans, Wizz Air is launching a recruitment campaign and plans to recruit 800 new crew members and 300 new pilots in its network by December 2021.
