Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention joins the international community in celebrating World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April each year to promote the concept of a safe and healthy working environment as a right and a fundamental principle at work.

The ministry emphasized that the annual event is an opportunity to showcase the country’s achievements in the field of maintaining workers’ health and safety in the workplace.

It emphasized that the UAE has ratified important ILO conventions and enacted various laws to safeguard occupational health and safety.

MoHAP added that this international celebration sheds light on the importance of providing a safe and healthy working environment for workers in all sectors and the need to maintain occupational health and safety in the workplace.

The ministry urges all workers and employers to cooperate in providing a safe and healthy work environment and to develop policies and procedures to ensure worker safety and effective implementation.

The ministry reiterated the need to provide appropriate training and resources to foster a positive work culture as this contributes significantly to productivity, quality and overall social welfare.

National standard

The ministry said it was cooperating with the relevant authorities of the country in this regard, following a comprehensive strategy and a set of guidelines based on the National Occupational Safety and Health Management System Standards.

MoHAP also implements best international practices and utilizes cutting-edge technology to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for its employees and workers. All employees in all offices receive the necessary training to strive to create a healthy and safe workplace by implementing a comprehensive preventive system that requires everyone’s cooperation and commitment to practicing safe and healthy behaviours.

In addition, the Ministry works with relevant authorities to develop and revise regulations, policies and guidelines related to occupational health and safety. This includes working with relevant Arab and international organizations to establish a national system for recording work-related accidents, injuries and illnesses.

The ministry is also focusing on providing counseling services to employees to support their mental health and promote a sense of safety. Periodic assessments are conducted to identify health and safety risks, monitor compliance with standards and conditions, and assess their implementation.
