PORTLAND (USA), March 11 (AP) — Police in Maine arrested a 10-year-old student after he arrived on campus Friday with a gun.
No one was injured, the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said.
The office said it responded to Monroe Elementary School in Monroe just before 9 a.m. local time Friday after receiving a report of a student possessing a firearm.
Police, in cooperation with school staff, detained the student and confiscated the firearm, the sheriff’s office said. The student was arrested and taken to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
There is no ongoing threat to the school or community, the office said.
The sheriff’s office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the incident, police said.
No further information about the incident was immediately released.
