World News | AMD Introduces New Series of Updates for EPYC and AI to Drive Next Phase of Data Center Innovation

SAN FRANCISCO, June 14 (PTI) Chipmaker AMD on Tuesday announced a variety of new products and strategies designed to guide the next steps in its data center innovation.

AMD has rolled out a series of updates to its 4th Gen EPYC series of multi-core microprocessors and shared details of next-generation AMD Instinct accelerators and AI (artificial intelligence) software support.

With this, AMD expanded its leading data center portfolio with new EPYC CPUs and shared details about next-generation AMD Instinct accelerators and generative AI software support.

The semiconductor maker has unveiled the world’s most advanced generative artificial intelligence accelerator.

“AMD also revealed new details about the AMD Instinct MI300 Series accelerator family, including the launch of the AMD Instinct MI300X accelerator, the world’s most advanced generative AI accelerator,” it said.

It also showcased the ROCm software ecosystem for data center accelerators, highlighting preparation and collaboration with industry leaders to bring together an open AI software ecosystem.

Speaking at its data center and at the city’s AI Technology Premiere, the Santa Clara semiconductor company said the new updates are designed to give customers the workload specialization they need to meet the unique needs of businesses.

AMD highlighted how 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors continue to drive leading performance and energy efficiency.

AMD also introduced the 4th Generation AMD EPYC 97X4 processors, formerly codenamed “Bergamo.”

“With 128 ‘Zen 4c’ cores per socket, these processors deliver maximum vCPU density and industry-leading performance for applications running in the cloud, along with leading energy efficiency,” it said.

AMD introduced the 4th generation EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology, the world’s highest performing x86 server CPUs for technical computing.

“AMD 3D V-Cache can dramatically accelerate product development by delivering up to twice as many design jobs per day while using fewer servers and optimizing energy efficiency,” it said.

Additionally, AMD showcased a robust networking portfolio including AMD Pensando DPU, AMD Ultra Low Latency Networking and AMD Adaptive Networking.

The AMD Pensando DPU combines a powerful software stack with “Zero Trust Security” and a leading programmable packet processor to create the world’s smartest, highest performing DPU.
