Iran’s Bagherikani strengthens ties in Abu Dhabi, discusses regional issues

[ad_1]

TEHRAN – Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for political affairs, visited Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues with Arab authorities.

Bagheri said in a tweet on Tuesday that he was visiting the UAE to strengthen bilateral relations and engage in dialogue on regional issues.

The visit comes two weeks after UAE Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Maral traveled to Tehran for talks with Bagheri.

Demonstrators stormed the Saudi Arabian embassy in Tehran after Riyadh executed a prominent Shia cleric, seven years after the UAE downgraded diplomatic ties with Iran.

The foreign ministers of Iran and the UAE held a phone call on April 22, emphasizing the value of strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in terms of linkages between the private sectors of the two countries.

Bagheri Kani also served as Iran’s chief representative in international negotiations to renew the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the West.

Also in Abu Dhabi, he met and spoke with counterparts from the United Kingdom, France and Germany, which are still signatories to the nuclear deal.

“Continuing diplomatic consultations with regional and extra-regional parties, we met with German, French and British counterparts to discuss a range of issues and issues of mutual concern,” he tweeted on Tuesday.
