World News | Bangladeshi Muslims condemn China’s atrocities against Uyghurs

Dhaka [Bangladesh]April 5 (ANI): Protests and meetings were held in different parts of Bangladesh to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Barun revolution in East Turkestan, also known as Xinjiang in China.

In the capital, Dhaka, Bangladesh Khilafat Andolan (BKA) organized a meeting chaired by leader Shaheed Zaidin Yusuf. During the meeting, participants condemned China’s illegal occupation of East Turkestan (Xinjiang) and its atrocities against innocent Uyghur Muslims.

Later, protests were held highlighting the issue of Han Chinese settlement in East Turkestan to reduce the Uyghur population. Protesters warned the Chinese government to stop such actions.

BKA supports the people of East Turkestan free from illegal Chinese occupation and urges the international community to stand up for the cause of Uyghur Muslims.

The Islamic Progotoshil Janata Front organized a discussion and Dowa Mahfil at the Bangladeshi Photojournalist Auditorium in Purana Paltan, Dhaka to mark Barrenness Day.

Islamic scholars including Maulana Abdur Rashid Majumder of Nizam-e-Islam, Maulana Abu Jafar Kashemi of BKA, Maulana Shahidul Islam of Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam, Bangladesh, Maulana Kabirul Islam of Alem Muktijoddha Projonmo Forum, Assistant Maulana Abdulla Yahyiya, Secretary-General of the Bangladesh Islamic Organization (Dhaka City), attended the above-mentioned Dowa Mahfil and highlighted the atrocities committed by the Chinese against Uyghur Muslims.

The Bangladesh Mohajar Welfare and Development Committee (BMWDC) also organized protest demonstrations and human chains near Dhaka University. Some 200 protesters distributed leaflets highlighting the atrocities committed by the Chinese government against Uighur Muslims. BMWDC members also submitted a memorandum to the Chinese embassy.

Open Dialogue Bangladesh organized a street performance in front of the National Press Club to highlight the oppression of Uyghur Muslims by the Chinese occupying forces. Protesters accuse China of genocide against Uyghurs.

In Gazipur, Sanchetan Nagarik Samaj organized a human chain. The protests in Ghazipur highlighted Chinese atrocities and the ongoing genocide of Uyghur Muslims.

Some 300 protesters expressed solidarity with Uighur Muslims and condemned China’s double standards on ethnic minorities. Protesters held banners and posters highlighting the Baron revolution.

In Rampur, Muktijoddha Mancha (MM) organized a protest demonstration and discussion in front of the Bangabandhu mural near the Rampur Press Club in Rampur City.

About 300-400 people attended the event. Murad Kausar, general secretary of MM Rangpur City, said that in Baren City, Xinjiang, China arrested more than 100,000 Uyghur Muslims that day, and about 1,000 Uyghurs who opposed China’s oppression were killed.

Protesters say China, the world’s greatest oppressor, is killing its own people, just like Pakistan did to Bangladeshis.

In Khulna, NGOs “Alokito Foundation” and “Sammilito Samajik Andolon” organized a human chain and procession in Khulna city to commemorate Barun Revolution Day. Some 150-200 protesters attended the event, including imams and mullanas.

The Bangladesh Islamic Front (BIF) also held an event in Chittagong. They discussed China’s oppressive policies and atrocities against Uyghur Muslims at the Jittatu Press Club.

Some 600 people attended the event, including the influential Maulanas. Addressing protesters, BIF President Maulana MA Matin criticized China for continuing human rights violations in Xinjiang province.
