World News | Berlin gives Kyiv enough weapons: German Chancellor Olaf Schultz

[ad_1]

Berlin [Germany]Aug. 22 (ANI/Sputnik): German Chancellor Olaf Schultz said on Sunday that Berlin had been regularly supplying Kyiv with “extremely effective” weapons and vowed to continue deliveries if there were no upgrades.

Earlier this week, German media reported, citing official Ukrainian sources, that Ukrainian diplomats had repeatedly asked Berlin to increase arms supplies since June, to no avail.

“Germany has been supplying Ukraine with a lot of weapons. It is worth mentioning that we are continuing to deliver on a regular basis, which is a very effective weapon,” Scholz said during an open house in his Berlin office.

The senior official also said that the weapons to be delivered will include the Cobra radar system and the IRIS-T (Infrared Imaging System Tail/Thrust Vector Control) air defense system.

He added that Germany would assist Ukraine as long as necessary, but the “main principle” was that the conflict should not escalate.

Berlin said it had a shortage of weapons and would help supply Kyiv with German-made hardware and ammunition from partner countries. In July, Norway and Estonia supplied Ukraine with German weapons from their arsenals. (ANI/Sputnik)
