New York [US]June 16 (ANI): India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ruchira Kamboj, has introduced a draft resolution on the “Wall of Memorial to Fallen Peacekeepers” at UN Headquarters in New York.
The Permanent Representative to the United Nations said: “I would also like to thank all 190 missions that co-sponsored this initiative and invite others to join. For 75 years, UN peacekeeping has been one of the most important tools for conflict mitigation and resolution .to promote global peace and security.”
“These peacekeepers have made the ultimate sacrifice in carrying out the tasks that we as Member States have asked of them to carry out. It is therefore our duty to ensure that their sacrifice is not forgotten and their memory is respected,” Kamboj further said.
“India stands ready to contribute, including financially, to this goal. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to all of us to erect a wall of remembrance at the UN Headquarters. It will demonstrate that we, as the UN, bestow Our peacekeepers. This will be a consolation to the next of kin and loved ones of those brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice, including their comrades and colleagues in service,” she added.
